Name Card Exchange and Story Cards – Full descriptions of these connection activities. Diversity Dots – Instructions at Training Wheels (Michelle). J U S T O N E W O R D – Write each letter of this phrase on a separate index card (you'll have 11 index cards). You'll want a set of these (11) cards, shuffled up well, for each group of two or three players. Tell them this, "Using all 11 cards, spell just one word." Talking Point: Mental Models – What do the directions mean to you? How are you defining the directions? In what other ways can the directions be defined? Name Letter Opener – Full details at the FUNdoing Blog (Chris) Puzzle Partners – Pick up some large index card. You'll need one index card for every two participants in your group. Cut each index card in half in a unique way. Shuffle up the pieces and then distribute – each person needs on 'half' of an index card. Before mingling and finding partners, tell everyone the question you want them to discuss after they find their match. For example, "What is life teaching you right now?" (Thanks to Chad Littlefield). Then, everyone goes into the crowd to find the other half of their puzzle (index card) piece and discuss the question. Quick Mentions

Ideas Shared in the Episode
"Show me the incentive and I'll show you the outcome." Charlie Munger Ideas: Add space for written reflection on pre- post-check sheets. Add three points to discuss:
Video the reflection of the program. Have fun with it. Show up from time-to-time to go through the reflection with the staff. Ask questions, show interest. Bring 'cold' beverages to show appreciation. Help the staff close up the program and put away gear. Be a part of the culture. As a 'manager' follow up with the staff on their reflection data – show them you care and want to help them, and the program, get better.

We must learn to challenge systems, challenge institutional injustices, and more. We must do our part to show up, speak up, and not tolerate hate and injustice. Be brave. Be bold. Be inspirational. Now is the time for new changes and transformations. In the process, reach down deep to share empathy. Be patient with yourself and each other. Be authentice in your exchange of love, laughter, fear, and hope.

These ideas are about making ongoing connections as opposed to an organized team building program (and those are good too). Nose Glasses - Hide the glasses in common staff hang outs. If someone finds them they are 'challenged' to wear them in public for a while (e.g., 30-minutes). (Thanks to Chris' friends from Beber Camp for this idea.)
Slang Flash Cards - Pick a slang word and try to use it during the day.
Clothespin Compliments - Write uplifting compliments or wishes on a wooden clothespin and secretly clip them on to someone without being detected. This person acknowledges the complement and then clips it on to someone else - passing it along. (Examples: You're Awesome; You're Appreciated; You're a Star!; Thank You!; Have Fun; Be Brave; Have a Great Day.) Mail Box Messages - Put little notes of appreciation and affirmation or little gifts (e.g., smiley face ball) in staff mailboxes. Post-It Note Messages - Slap a Post-It Note of inspiration somewhere for staff to see. Mail a Letter or Postcard - When's the last time you received a letter or postcard in the mail? This can be a fun surprise. (The Postcard link goes to Inspirational Postcard packs from Amazon.) Make a Tool - Make something for a team building colleague they can use during their programs. (Examples: A set of Quote Cards; A Yarn Ball; A small processing bag with metaphorical items.) The Dollar Store Challenge - As a staff, set a $5 limit per person to purchase things at a dollar store for a team building activity and then lead it at a staff meeting. To make it easier, pair up staff to work together on an activity. An Interesting Outing - Go to an interesting event that will stimulate a growth opportunity for your team. How can what you experience influence something you do with your clients?
