Helmets: Happy Turtles or the Bird Bath?

How do you like to see your helmets placed down on the ground?

How do you instruct your participants to set down their helmets (if you don't have a place to hang them up off the ground)?

When you answer, please provide the reason for your choice - why do you want the helmet placed down in your preferred way?

First picture: "Happy turtle"
Second picture: "Dead turtle"
Reason: Promote culture of responsibility; being caretakers for our shared environment...in short, simple phrases that can be understood without rationalizing (since few participants have an actively functioning frontal cortex during a session).

Tony, thanks for sharing. I appreciate the simple understandable phrasing - we certainly don't want a 'dead' turtle (everyone I know like turtles). There's also the emotional connection to the phrases. Happy feels good, dead, not so good. So, we lean towards the good.

Tangentially, I will make the assumption you prefer (and instruct) setting down a helmet in the happy turtle position. Why do you prefer this choice?

A "happy turtle" can resist being stepped on. "Dead turtles" can crack. I've heard (but haven't tried) testing this on a retired helmet. If anyone has tried a stress-to-failure demonstration, I'd like to hear how it was done safely (and dramatically).
